Mode of Operation:

The SONAPHONE K serves for the evaluation with regard to the function of steam traps and other armatures in plants where steam passes through with temperatures up to 800°C.

The minimization of steam losses occurs by preventive maintenance and function control of steam traps. With the function control of steam traps the ultrasound measurement became accepted in relation to other evaluation procedures.

With the control unit SONAPHONE K the proper function of the diverters is controlled as well as an estimation of arising steam losses is made possible.

The checking of the steam trap occurs by the control of the ultrasonic level radiated from the fitting. Defective diverters differ clearly in the level from intact ones. The ultrasonic vibrations developing at leaky diverters are registered and their intensity is indicated digitally. An additional temperature measurement at the surface of the fitting increases the statement security of the device.

Due to the short measuring times a condition analysis is possible within a few seconds. Because of the wide type spectrum of steam traps as well as the specific plant conditions the allocation of the measured values occurs on the basis of the decision criteria and ultrasonic levels respectively, specified by the inspector.
