Applications for VegaPuls Radar System for Liquids
Level measurement in storage bins for acids and lyes
Process conditions
Stainless steel or GRP containers, temperatures up to +80° C
Medium
Acids and lyes
Solution
The radar measuring principle is particularly well suited for continuous level measurement in aggressive media. The measurement is carried out contactlessly, without direct contact to the medium. With its encapsulated antenna, the radar sensor VEGAPULS 61 is ideal for this application.
Advantages of VEGAPULS 61
- Non-contact level measurement
- Good chemical resistance
- Wear and maintenance-free
Flow-rate measurement in open channels
Process conditions
Open channel, environmental temperature
Medium
Dirty water, sewage
Solution
Radar sensors like VEGAPULS 61 are ideally suited for flow-rate measurement in open channels. They are used especially when heavier demands are made on the precision and reliability of the measurement. The use of radar sensors makes sense particularly for waste water treatment plants of chemical companies, where the waste water contains solvents or undergoes extreme temperature changes.
Advantages of VEGAPULS 61
- Non-contact and maintenance-free
- Antenna encapsulation of PP
- High precision
Tank content measurement with liquids
Process conditions
Metal containers, temperatures up to +450° C
Medium
Liquids
Solution
The radar sensor VEGAPULS 62 delivers very exact and reliable results in all level measuring tasks connected with the storage of liquids. With its precision of a few millimetres, the measurement technology makes it possible to derive detailed information for stockpiling, regardless of the product and process conditions.
Advantages of VEGAPULS 62
- Non-contact measurement
- Simple installation
- Independent of product properties
- High measuring precision +/-2 mm
Tank systems in the refinery
Process conditions
Metal vessels, temperatures up to +250° C
Medium
Crude oil, distillates, raw and finished products, bitumen
Solution
The radar sensor VEGAPULS 62 is particularly suitable for level measurement in small and mid-sized vessels in the refinery. The small, light sensor can be mounted on an available socket or integrated into a manhole with no problem. With a precision of 2 mm, the sensor is ideal for "Inventory Tank Management" and can be easily integrated into superordinate systems.
Through the use of a temperature adapter, process temperatures up to +250° C can be realized. This enables measurement of highly viscous distillates such as lubricants or bitumen. VEGAPULS 62 has also proven itself very well as an overfill protection system in floating roof tanks.
Advantages of VEGAPULS 62
- Non-contact measurement
- Application range -1 ... +100 bar
- Measuring range up to 35 m
Level measurement in reaction vessels for production of plastics or resins
Process conditions
Reaction vessels, process temperatures over +150° C, vacuum or superimposed pressures
Medium
Base products and solvents
Solution
Non-contact measurement with the radar sensor VEGAPULS 62 is ideal in the production of reaction products. Since the measurement takes place without direct contact to the medium, almost no buildup can form on the sensor. The radar measurement is independent of process conditions like temperature, pressure or superimposed gases and provides exact results even when agitators are operating. Since radar technology only measures the distance to the product surface, the measurement is independent of density changes that may occur during the process. Due to its wide application temperature range up to +450° C, the sensor is optimally suited for reaction vessels.
Advantages of VEGAPULS 62
- Non-contact measurement
- Application temperatures up to +450° C
- Range of application -1 ... +160 bar
- Special materials such as Hastelloy or tantalum
Level measurement with VEGAPULS 63 in the stirring and batching tank for the production of fruit yoghurt
Process conditions
Metal vessel with agitator, approx. +45° C process temperature
Medium
Soured milk, in the case of fruit yoghurt also berries, nuts or grain
Solution
VEGAPULS 63 measures the level reliably and independently of the changing density of the medium. The non-contact sensor is also unaffected by the abrasive grain components and fruits in the yoghurt. And the front-flush antenna permits optimal CIP and SIP cleaning. It is impervious to the jet water pressure of the cleaning head and easily withstands the extreme temperature fluctuations.
Advantages of VEGAPULS 63
- Immune to pressure and temperature fluctuations
- Absolutely front flush antenna
- CIP and SIP capable
Continuous level measurement of chlorine
Process conditions
Electrolysis tank, approx. +45° C process temperature
Medium
Chlorine
Solution
VEGAPULS 63 is especially suitable for continuous level measurement of chlorine. The encapsulated antenna system is covered with a plastic disk made of PTFE or PFA. Thus, no metal has direct contact with the medium and optimal corrosion resistance is guaranteed.
VEGAPULS 63
- Non-contact measurement
- Medium touching materials of PTFE or PFA
- High chemical resistance
Level measurement with VEGAPULS 63 in storage containers for chemicals and auxiliary materials
Process conditions
Stainless steel or GRP containers, temperatures up to +95° C
Medium
Hydrogen peroxide, soda lye, sodium silicate, fatty acid over soap as well as fillers or finishing polymers, defoamers, fixatives and retention agents
Solution
The optimal solution for level measurement here is the radar sensor VEGAPULS 63. It remains uninfluenced by the process conditions and delivers exact measuring results even in the presence of operating agitators.
Advantages of VEGAPULS 63
- Non-contact level measurement, suitable for all media and containers
- Antenna system completely PTFE encapsulated
- No mounting socket required
